Hi every on I have been luking on the forums for a while but this is my first post. So I have a 37 gallon tank. I have finished cycling it, and I am about to add fish. I would like to know if this stocking would work.
    1 firemouth cichlid
    1 pictus catfish
    1 bristle nose pleco
    6 serpae tetras

It won't work because pictus get to 5" and 37 gallons is not enough space for them, and plus they are schooling fish that need to be in a school of six or more. I believe fire mouths get pretty aggressive and should be put with equally aggressive fish also.

Would a firemouth and dwarf cichlid work

Firemouths are pretty aggressive might want to consider a species only tank or similar sized aggressive fish

    would this work

I would not keep pictus or a FM with the tetra. An acara or rainbow cichlid would work.

Or a FM with tiger barbs would work.

It should be fine unless they are breeding how many are you planning to get

What are the dimensions of the tank?
In the right sized tank firemouths are not aggressive, they are mellow.
And no the pictus wouldn't work in this size tank. And yes they need a group of 6+....
