I'm thinking about setting up my 30 Gallon aquarium, mainly for the purpose that I have swordtails in my 10 gal that need a bigger home. Could acaras get along with swordtails in a 30 Gallon, or is that not enough space?

No they get about six inches and eat fishes smaller than it ...it's recommended to keep them with other cichlid species that's around it's size

Not at all. Acaras should not be in a tank that small anyway.

Some tank mates to look at would be honest any community tank fish. Like rasboras, mollie, platy, corycats, guppies, non-aggressive tetras, etc. Stuff like that. If you want a bigger centerpiece fish. Gourami are very pretty or Bolivian rams.

If you have your heart set on cichlids you could do rams or apistogrammas.
