Starting my 20 gallon tall. I have not added any fish as of now, since I am in the midst of cycling. I do have some plants, and I do plan on adding more.

Want some stocking ideas, however I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of the more common platies, mollies, and guppies. Seeking something a little more interesting to look at (and that won't end up eating all your plants)

Things I'm looking for:

1 Centerpiece fish

At least 6 schoolers

possibly 1-3 bottom feeders (fish)

And possibly some shrimp that can coexist.

Here’s something interesting, active, and colorful:

1x dwarf gourami
6x harlequin rasbora
6x neon tetra
5x peppered corydoras

Lots of activity and color but also the beauty of the gouramI makes it

Centerpiece: Betta, Honey Gourami, Peacock Gudgeon, Bolivian Ram, Apistogramma.

Schoolers: Harlequin Rasbora, Cardinal Tetra, Rummynose Tetra, Celestial Pearl Danio, Gold Ring Danio.

Bottom Dwellers: Unfortunately, a majority of the bottom dwellers require a group of 6+. Suggestions for bottom dwellers includes Asian Stone Catfish, small Corydoras sp., and KhulI Loaches.
I like the idea of adding a Bolivian ram, however I hear that they need to be in pairs to maintain their colors?

I don't really think that's true. I've seen members in the past have a single Bolivian ram in their tanks, and they looks amazing. But to be fair, they do better in groups!

1 honey gourami
12 celestial pearl danios
10 corydoras habrosus

This is my stocking for my 20g.

Another idea if you don't want a school of bottom dweller is
1 clown Pleco (will also be your centrepiece)
14 ember tetras
12 blue cherry shrimps

Will the Honey GouramI not eat the shrimp? I have Black Ruby Barbs that are one inch now and I am skeptical of adding Red Cherry Shrimp with them. They grow to 2.2 inches maybe 3 inches. If they can't fit in their mouth, I will probably add them once ground cover grows.

They may eat the shrimplets, but I'm not sure if they'll predate on adults.

Awesome, I will give it a try mixing the shrimp with the BRB's once I grow decent cover. Thanks!
