Anything else you feed them that they seem to really like? I’m trying to give them a variety but they can be picky.

I feed mine Mysis and Brine shrimp all the time. Usually 3, once a day.

Yeah the one who picky now used to eat Mysis Shrimp and loved them but now he chews it and spits some of it out. I’m wondering if maybe he just doesn’t have the appetite he used to and when he’s spitting stuff out he just isn’t hungry..

Both of my bettas get brine shrimp along with pellets to off set their blood worms, so I say go ahead and try. 2-3 per meal is about what I do.

I’ll give it a go thank you.

When I first fed my bettas brine shrimp, they hated it. I added some Garlic Guard to them and now they all love it. Only my rescue betta loved it the first time.

Have you tried mixing up your feeding patterns? Something I noticed with one of my bettas is he gets tired and bored of doing and eating the same thing everyday over and over. When I start to see him get bored, I like to switch things up with new food, or do a rearrangement of his tank. He really seems to enjoy it when I surprise like this and its fun to watch

Yeah I ordered some Garlic Guard. I’ll let you know how that goes. That’s really cool that you rescued a Betta too. I always applaud people for doing that.

I tried a different pellet food yesterday and he seemed to like it. He kept most of it down and only spit out a tiny bit of the last one I gave him. If you have any suggestions as far as food goes I’m looking for new ideas.

I'm using Omega One Betta Buffet pellets right now and I know New Life Spectrum is a good brand. I've also heard a lot of good things about Fluval Bug Bites

Do you soak the Betta Buffet pellets before you feed them? If so about how long? I bought some NLS Betta pellets but they are huge. I was afraid they wouldn’t be able to eat them.

I don't because they don't soak up a lot of water. I left some pellets in a cup of tank water overnight and they were only a tiny bit bigger the following morning.

this is what I feed my bettas daily and they love it! I have not used any pellets in ages or freeze dry food, don't like to use that at all. This is all ive used for all my fish and they all love it.

Oh that looks like good stuff. I’ll give it a try thank you for the recommendation, it’s much appreciated. Do you soak them before feeding them or just feed them straight?

Oh and how much do you feed per day to your Bettas?

I don't suck them because they aren't pellets. So it won't expand or anything. And I just do small pinch. Just as much as they would eat in a few minutes

I don't typically feed my bettas the brineshrimp, but they like it, as do most of my fish including my community.

If you are able to provide him with any live food, that might get his appetite going. I do blackworms and sometimes baby brine shrimp if I have extra, and my son’s betta loves both.

Where do you get them because that sounds like a great idea!

So he loves them! He didn’t spit any out at all a begged for more when he was done. He chews it up quite a bit before he swallows it. Is that normal? Just want to make sure it’s not hurting him. Does your Betta chew it too?

Its perfectly normal, especially since its a new food that they are trying. Also Bug bite assuming you bought the “small bite” one, like the name says, its pretty small so you don't have to worry

Yeah I bought the small version. Just wanted to make sure he’s not hurting his mouth. I’m so glad he didn’t spit any out. Your a life saver.

I buy blackworms at my LFS and hatch brine shrimp myself - I have a hatchery dish that requires pretty much zero effort to use, and just started hatching larger quantities with a soda-bottle hatchery. Pretty much everyone loves the shrimp, and I love making my son’s betta work for his meals sometimes.

I fed him Bug Bites this morning and he ate with no problem at all. I just went to feed him this afternoon and he just flat out refused it. I wanted to see if he would eat in general so I gave him a bloodworm and he ate that. I don’t know what’s going on with him.

maybe just feed him once a day from now on.
having less meals, his appetite will be better when you do feed him.

Ok I’ll try that. Should I still feed him the same amount? And is once a day enough food?
