Sterbai Cory barbel growth/fungus?

tgruetzm

I have some 8 year old sterbai corydoras that are in general doing quite well. One however has a strange looking growth attached to the barbells right near his mouth. From the photos it may be hard to see, but on the right side the inner most barbel seems to be longer and darker than it should(it appears free floating when he moves around. Other than this he seems healthy, eating and foraging with everyone else.

Any ideas on what this is and if I should be concerned and or try and treat it?

Thanks!

I’d say he broke it. Nothing to worry about. It will either heal or fall off.

I hadn’t considered that but it seems plausible. The only thing that seems odd is the middle ones seem consistently short on the others and this one is quite long.
