Whats the best way to do a water change? I have a 20 gal tank with 3 fishes (1 black molly, 1 Glofish, neon guppy) I recently had 2 fishes with fin rot so I’ve been doing weekly water changes but I want to know what’s the best way so I don’t stress my fish out anymore than what they are going they with recovering from the fin rot. TIA!

Using a siphon to vacuum the water & substrate is just about the easiest and fastest way to go. You need to do weekly water changes regardless so your fish will get over it & get used to it overtime

An important aspect of WC's is temp matching new water. Easiest way I found was to remove thermo and hold it under faucet to get the right temp.

I use a pump and hose to drain my tanks, and a direct hose connection to sink to refill.

I add dechlorinator to tank before I refill.

Seachem Prime and Safe ( powdered version of Prime) are very good choice of dechlorinators.

Remember, the beneficial bacteria live in the substrate and filter media, not the tank water.

I perform 50%-75% WC's every 7-10 days
