Status Of My Aquarium

I bought a tank yesterday and filled it; added Safestart. It was cloudy this morning. Bought 2 sponge filters for each corner which cleared the water pretty fast. also bought 2 Amazon swords, an Anubus and a merino ball. Temp is in the middle of the green on the theromter. Won't add any fish until next week (Safestart starts the bio cycle). If the water tests okay will add a Betta and a snail.

 

Have you added an ammonia source? If not any bacteria you have added will starve off before you add fish.

Yeah, you need to add ammonia. TSS is just bacteria.

To get your tank up to approximately 4-5ppm it should be around 1.5 ml or 30 drops. Please make sure you are using pure ammonia diluted with only water. If there is an Ace hardware near you go there and look for Janitorial Strength ACE brand ammonia. It is 10% ammonia and 90% water without any other additives. You can also use Dr. Tim's but since it does not give you their concentration level and only instructions there is a debate on the actual strength of their ammonia. The fishless cycling process even with added bacteria will take at the very least 2 weeks. I just cycled a 5 gallon after 32 days and this is considered fairly speedy.
