Starting Out My Second Aquarium Need Advice

The reason i'm here is because I am planning to get 1 Angelfish and 2 Flame Dwarf Gouramis in my standard shape 40 gallon planted tank, and I have been taking notes on the fish and making sure that they have compatible parameters but I know facts aren't everything and I like to have somebody's opinion if they could work well together in this tank.

I’m not too familiar with Gourami behavior, but BottomDweller would definitely know! Good luck!

I'm not that familiar with tank sizes, can you be more specific in the tank size? What is the standard shape 40 gallon? Is it the 40B?

I would say the 2 gouramis might work as long as the tank is heavily planted. Gourami and angels are good tank mates but just watch out for bullies.

it is a 40 gal with these measurements 48" x 12" x 16" and it is a long and tall 40 gallon tank.

I would do 1 angel and 2 pearl gouramis. They have more temperature compatibility with angels and are more peaceful.

Thanks for the advice BottomDweller. It helps a lot and it is more convenient because at my local fish store they have a pretty good selection of pearl gouramis and I would have had to ship the Flame DG.

Oh and do you have any recommended plants that will float on the surface.
