Starter Tank, Community Advice

HI guys, and gals. I am very new to all of this, but I've been reading posts and discussions on this forum for the last week or so. Trying to get a better handle on the little things.
I was hoping just to get a general opinion on a tank that my lady and I are planning.
We want to start small, with a 10 gallon, bow front tank. It's a kit, comes with a filter and a heater. Both of which we are going to try and see if we like them.
Our first fish is a male veiltail betta. And we would like to build a small community with him in mind. That being said we want to start with 3 Pygmy Cory cats, we have a panda Cory right now. Going to try a sand forefront with a gravel back for our tank.
We want to try and utilize some freshwater shrimp in our tank. From what I've read, 10 or so small shrimp are a safe bet for this tank size?
Would love any suggestions, or tips.
Thanks

Here's a link to the tank we've purchased.

If your betta is already in this tank the size for a community is too small. You could purchase a bigger aquarium for a community such as a 20 gallon and leave the betta in the 10 gallon. Panda cities also need to be in a school of 6+ and preferably in a 20 gallon tank. You could get the shrimps but, I would test whether your betta will attack them first by trying 1 shrimp. Even if you are a beginner bigger is better, trust me I've learn from experience. Look on a second hand website for larger, cheaper tanks, or for the $1 per gallon sale if money is an issue.

There are temp incompatibilities between bettas and those two cory species as well.

Betta community tanks aren't easy but ya a 20 gallon at least

I don't know why you quoted me, but even in a 20 gal long (not tall), you need to make sure the other species are temp compatible.
