Stainless Steel Aquatic Plant Tools

Hi,

I bought UEETEK 25 CM Stainless Steel Curved Tip Scissors Aquatic Plant Scissors off Amazon.com for about $13 and they worked great for a little while, but after a few months, they now have rust on the tips. I read elsewhere that using rusted tools is not great for your tank.

So, my question is what everyone uses for stainless steel tools, and if they have had problems with rust. I've done some looking on Amazon and it seems rust is a common problem. Are there any TRULY 'stainless steel' scissors (and tongs) out there?

Thanks!

I bought these for the raving reviews and the promise that they don’t rust but I’ve not had them long enough to know for sure. I like them so far.

There are some tools out there that are surgical grade stainless. As long as you wipe them off after use you will probably never see rust on them.

I don't understand why a little rust on something would hurt anything in the tank though. I wouldnt want a rusty cutting edge, and rusty moving parts won't work well, but tweezers shouldnt matter.

HI got mine off eBay at a really good price, been using them for well over a year now & no rust but I do make sure I dry them thoroughly before putting away each time I use them. I don't believe rust will harm a tank in the concentrations you'll get from this source, rust is just oxidised iron which you find everywhere in nature anyway.
