Ok I would love to have a couple spotted green puffer fish. can they be with tank mates of separate species? and what do they eat. I am prepared to have a separate tank for them if needed.

That's odd.

But to address the two questions you asked in your original post:

Compatible Tank Mates : Must be chosen with caution. Most will just be eaten. Some possible companions are: mollies, scats, monos, archerfish, bumblebee gobies, and other green spotted puffers.

...

Diet / Fish Food : When young: snails, brine shrimp, plankton, krill, crickets, cockles, prawns, whitebait, worms, ghost shrimp. When larger (about 4" or so): all the above, and also clams, mussels, squid, scallops, shrimp, crab legs, oysters, lobster, and crayfish.

edit: she also wrote a general puffer care guide that's a sticky in the puffer forum: https://www.fishlore.com/aquariumfishforum/threads/general-guide-to-puffer-care.33066/

Personally I'd suggest no tank mates for GSP besides possibly other GSP.... I tried mollies with them... one ended up as breakfast one morning

they should probably be left with their own species. They tend to find other fish "tasty", if you know what I mean.
