65 Gallon Tank Sponge on the intake tube of my fluval 306

I’m looking for a sponge to cover the intake on my fluval 306 any suggestions? I haven’t found anything yet as the intake tube has this “guard” on it and it’s hard To find a sponge that will fit over it. Thanks in advance

 

I got a piece of black filter sponge and cut a slit in it and fitted it over the intake.

 

I got these for my fluval 404 and it works great the sponge is stretchy and will fit over

 

You can buy large chunks on sponge on Ebay cheap but make sure you get sponge with big holes if the intake get's blocked it can burn the motor out on the filter.

I have these that work on my Sunsun and Tidal filter intakes.

If it's a tight fit, just cut down the center with razor to open it up a little.

 

The strainer can be removed.

I use ATI Filter Max III pre-filters on my FX4 and Hydor canisters, and my AC110 & AC70's.

They come with adapters to fit almost any round ended intake tube.

Or use cichlidude's slip-on sponges over the strainer.
