Hey all,
What are the pros and cons of a sponge filter vs. An undergravel filter?
I got a new 10 gallon tank and want to set it up with one of these. I'm leaning towards the under gravel filter, as I like the looks of it and I hear it's really good for plant and bb growth from aquarium co-op and a few others.
However, I feel like the sponge filter is more versital and reliable from so many people having experience with using them.
I hear both are easy on fish and inverts, fairly inexpensive, great at growing bb, creating surface agitation.
I plan on having guppies, shrimp, and a red claw crab. I'm thinking on going with sand substrate.
Thanks in advanced!
