Sponge Filter or HOB with Breeding Guppies?

Hey, I will be breeding guppies in my 29 gallon aquarium

Should I use a sponge filter or hang on back (aquaclear 70) filter when breeding guppies?

I know the fry can get sucked in the HOB so if I do use the aquaclear 70 I will be getting a sponge intake for the filter.

So basically the question is if they like higher flow (aquaclear 70) or lower flow (sponge filter).

Thank you!!!

I would do both, or have an airstone with the hob. I know you could get away with the filter creating enough oxygen but I would personally not risk it

You can use both as the above said but be prepared to get more tanks going cause under the right conditions guppies will and can potentially drop 20-50 fry per pregnancy

I personally run both in my guppy breeder. A aquaclear 110 and a sponge filter. If I had to choose one I would probably just do an aquaclear. But yes make sure to cover the intake with a sponge.

Thanks, I'll do both

Will the flow be too strong though? The aquaclear 70 shoots a ton of water out really fast.

You can adjust the flow of the 70 by moving the intake to the right I believe and with a prefilter sponge that should lessen it a bit more

You can turn the flow down by turning the intake so if it seems to strong do that.
