That link sent me to a tank, not a filter

Sorry I didn’t word that well, I just left the petshop with the tank I linked before, but I’m thinking the filter will be too strong?
I’m going to set it up at home but if anyone already knows the tank and the included filter I would love to know if it’s too strong

If it is too strong which brand of sponge filter should I be looking for? And will a tetra whisper air pump be any good for a betta in this size tank? What else will I need for filter and air pump set up? I’ve never used a sponge filter before - only hang over the back filters

Also this is the intake piece and I’m currently putting a hole in this black filter sponge to slot it over the intake tube ( can’t remember where I read about doing this but will it work to stop his fins getting hurt?? )

It should help the fins. Might even slow the intake of water into the filter which might slow the output a little.

Oh phew! I’m so nervous changing to this that I’m regretting it haha!
I figure I’ll give this one to my plakat first so I can see how he goes as he loves current anyway so if it’s a bit stronger than my current ones he won’t care but it’ll give me a idea if my Halfmoon will cope...
if it’s too strong I’ll take this system out of it and my options will be sponge filter ( which are hard to get here and I’ll be asking you guys to help me with listing what I’ll need and how to set it up) or the pet store recommend a marina i25 filter but I know nothing about that either

I have 0 experience myself with sponge filters. I did find a small low flow filter with an included baffle I like though. Have it on 3/4 betta tanks. Comes with like 3 or 4 different tanks that walmart sells. I have bought their little 1 gallon tanks just to cannibalize the filter from it and thrown away the rest to place in my 5 gal tanks lol

I’m thinking that the black cubes with the filter wool in it ( in the photo ) have carbon wrapped in the filter wool would that make sense? And if so after I do fish in cycle I could remove those 3 cubes and replace it with black filter sponge I have ( see other photo ) and that may slow the force too ??

Oh your post about buying tanks for the filters just reminded me, I brought tank setups just for the tanks - so I have 2x blue planet internal filters brand new here ... I hadn’t planned to use as I had the hang on back ones but maybe they will be better for this ? Model says cx-200 / cx 400 ,

My advice is maybe experiment a litttle bit, see if it bothers your betta and work from there, really. Mine don't seem to mind my filters, usually just use the outflow to play "hunting games" with their food

sponge filters are good u can use a air flow valve to slow the air impot or u can incress it or u can use an under gravel filter and same deal air control valve cheers john and rember male fighters can't be in the same tank as each other or there will be torn fins and dead fish just a heads up

Oh I have different tanks for them I just brought one of these to figure it all out for one male betta and then I’ll buy the same thing for my other male betta.

We tried the filter system it came with and I don’t like it. It actually worries me that I read reviews just now that the water overflows from the filter box and floods the back too.

So Ive put the blue planet cx200 /cx400 in and the output is perfect! But the intake needs sorted as my Bettas fins will def be at risk with that
Ps: no betta is in the tank for any of these filter trials of course

This is with the filter I preferred
What should I do about the intake grill?
