So, I have two male bettas that I will be putting into a split 10 gallon, but I really don’t know how to decorate it. (The divider will is a black Life With Pets divider). These are the two:

Magpie

And these are my available substrates (I’m willing to buy something new is someone has a good idea, but I’d like to work with that u have):
-Black blasting sand
-White large gravel

-Red gravel
-Navy Blue gravel (half portion)

-“natural” gravel mixed with soil

I also don’t have anything extra in the way of plants at the moment, so I’m totally open to buying some stuff.
I do also have a couple pieces of spider wood coming in soon.

Anyone have any ideas?

How about the different sides constrast (not sure how..)each other

like different sand colors, different style or complexity of aquascape... invisioning it in my head makes it look cool but on paper its not that exciting..

My thoughts precisely! Red betta with blue gravel on one side, blue betta with red gravel on the other!

I had been considering that, but I had kinda thought it might be a little too much? But you guys don’t think so? What would you do for plants with that? Cause you could do red plants with the side with red gravel, but you couldn’t do blue plants on the blue side lol

Hmm or you could make it look like the aquascape goes through the divider, as if you had a scape and chucked a divider in there.

That was the other thing I was thinking of... but I still don’t know what to aim for with that aquascape

I always wanted to to a kind of yin yang set up so contrasting colors on each. I'd do white on the side with the red fish and then black (or even red to contrast with the fish) on the side with the white fish.

Plants wouldn't fit well in terms of color scheme (unless you wanted fake plants, but if you're concerned about it being too over the top, I wouldn't go with blue plastic plants!), but could still be maximally contrastive—frogbit on one side, and seven marimo balls on the other, perhaps? Flame moss on one side, weeping moss on the other? A really round-leafed crypt on one side, and narrow leaf java fern on the other? There are still lots of ways to have contrast, even with green!

Imo, id do black on the side of the red fish and white with the other. I also think it would be cool if you had an aquascape that looks like it is all 1.
Ok, sorry, that isnt clear lol. What i was saying is: have an quascape that would fit together if you took the gravel out, but, the gravel and or plants are different

So, uh, the reason I have that gravel...

I actually just put in an order for some live plants for this tank. I think I’m gonna do all live

I do think black and white would be and interesting way to show off their colors and look nice with the plants!
but it’s next to a tank that is already black, white, and green... I wonder if it’d fit in well doing black and white, or if it’d be too much black and white

Right, lol, maybe not then. Id say red and blue? Imo id put the red betta in the red decor and the blueish one with the blue decor

I think doing a split thing with decor like in ur 2 images earlier would be really cool. Imo id just do plants + gravel tho cause of size...
