Spider wood has black mold?

TeeJay89

Hello all, I had this piece of Black Forest Spiderwood in my tank at one time but took it out after rescaping. I recently added it back in, now it has these big chunks of what looks like a black mold. I know this happens because I’ve had it happen before, but never this dark and so much. I’m just hoping it’s normal and can’t harm my snails if they eat at it!

That is just biofilm. Sometimes it turns grey or brown. It will go away on its own. The snails might eat it depending on the kind you have.
