Sorority Tank!

Hello! I've managed to set up a sorority tank (successfully so far) and was just wondering if anyone has any advice for issues I may run into in the future. I have lots of plants and 4 female bettas in right now (along with a female guppy I've not yet been able to net. Soon though!!) And they've coexisted pretty peacefully for a little over a week. I also have a couple snails in to help out the filter but plan on removing all but one soon enough. Heater/filter/airation is all set you as well Heres hoping for a problem free tank! Thanks!

 

I have just decided to start one myself so I will follow this thread what size tank and filter did decide to go with? Pics pretty please?!

 

A tip I can offer for continuing success in the future is adding another female. Even if they get along right now, they could start fighting at anytime. 5+ helps even out aggression.

Also, what size is your tank?

 

I agree that you will probably want a few more females to spread out aggression in your tank. Depending on your tank size, I would recommend having 7+ females. Since this is a sorority, you will need to watch the girls carefully. If you see a certain female being picked in, try to provide more cover in the tank. If this doesn't help, you should remove the female and place her in a separate tank where she can live in peace.

 

I have them in a ten gal, so not sure if it can hold 10 girls, the filter is a whisper and I've been thinking about switching to a foam filter instead. I'll definitely try and get another to bring my number up to five, as soon as I can get this guppy out :/ I do have a backup tank just in case one of them needs to be separated
