So I wana start a salt water tank I love the coaral the fish don't get me wrong I love my fresh but the salt I mean you guys know.

So I was thinking I already have 3 Tanks so I'm short on space I could fit a 10 15 or maby a 20 I want sand coral rock cool colorful fish.

The reason I got in to freshwater at first is I started to look at salt and was seeing that this can cost upwards of $10.000 dollars I know that's for a dream setup but my point is it cost serious $.

So I saw this tank at my lfs that was 10 15 or maby 20 gallons not sure but it was $35.00 for the tanks stand hood and light fixture.

I also have a acua-tech 20-40 filter do I need anymore then that.

How much more am I looking at for sand rock coral fish the right salt his do I care for this thing and so on I know this is a lot but thanks guys.

I've never had a saltwater tank, but I know generally small ones don't work well. I think at least 30 gallons is usually recommended for beginners.

Glad it helps! I'd love to have a saltwater tank someday, but that's a whole nother can of worms compared to freshwater. Parameter ranges are stricter, you need more supplies like a hygrometer (to test salinity) and a protein skimmer and sumps and refugiums and I don't even know what that is, and all sorts of things. One day I'd love to have one with corals though, and there are a few fish I've always liked too.

Same here be4 I got my fw tanks I was going for salt with reef and all but as you said there's so much to it so now I wana start slowly building up my equipment till I get what I need to start (garage sales thrift stores best way to do it).

Anyway I hope we both get there someday and somebody gives us some answers on here that will help us both out
