Something Is Growing On My Snails' Shells

    Hi everyone I'm new here and I basically joined cuz of dis question
    There's a thread-like plant(at least that's what I think it is) that's growing on the shells of most of my snails
    I got them from a little pond nearby along with some wild guppies and they all had the stuff on their shells [​IMG]
    This isn't exactly how it looks but it's very similar. I can't seem to upload the photos I took of them
    Someone please help me out

    I don't think so. It looks a lot like maybe grass(or rather moss) but I'm not sure

    its hard to say without a picture. sounds odd but there could be an easy answer, just have to c it

    Looks like green hair algae.

    Green hair algae grows in saltwater tanks not fresh

    Tell that to my betta tank :eek:...it may not be the exact same algae, but it's green and is like slimy hair. Very similar to the photo.

    does look like green algea. and it def grows in fresh water :)

    is that the snail?? if so it is algea but i have never seen it like this

    Yea that's the snail

    It grows at the back of about 4 out of 6 of my snails

    an you remove it? or does it just come back? i may want to get rid of them and try again
