I'm extremely happy with my decision to go with a Barb/Cory tank. 4 of my 6 Odessas have extremely bright/bold red stripes...the pics don't do them justice! I'm guessing the other 2 must be females. They have darkened up a little bit, but are not showing any signs of a stripe. My Black Ruby Barbs seem to be doing very well also. A couple of them are showing red on their heads/base of their tales, and one of them has started to darken through his body. My Albino Bristlenose is starting to grow his whiskers in also!

Males will start to show bristle at about 2 inches and will have them all over his face. a few females will have bristles around the lip only.

Beautiful fish and pics. Thanks for sharing them

Thank you everybody. I got very discouraged when I lost most of my fish to the Ich outbreak, but I'm really happy with the new direction that I took with the tank. It's really tough to get pics of these fish...the Odessas are extremely quick, and the BRB's don't really hold too still for photo ops either! As far as the Albino Bristlenose, there were quite a few in the tank when I got him, and the LFS employee picked that one for me when I told him I was hoping for a male. It was just starting to get the tiniest of whiskers when I brought him home! As far as feeding, I feed once a day (in the afternoon), and I usually give a little flake food, 2 sinking discs, and 10-15 shrimp pellets (this is for 19 fish). A couple times a week, I'll include some freeze-dried bloodworms in the mix also. I soak everything in Garlic Guard, and then put it into the tank...the BRB's attack the shrimp pellets like they've never eaten before...it's pretty amazing to watch! I tried putting some flake foods in the top of the tank, and the barbs will come up to eat, but as soon as the garlic-soaked food hits the water, they forget all about the food floating up top! Once the barbs finish off the flake food and pellets, they help the cory's with the wafers! Occasionally my pleco will claim one of the wafers...he'll just sit on top of it until he's had enough!

I've got 3 Leopard Corys in quarantine, if my water parameters are good tomorrow, they'll be going in and then I'm done!

Thanks again everyone, I just put my 3 Leopard Corys into the tank...keeping a close eye on them...the BRB's are definitely checking them out. So far, all they are doing is looking...I'm hoping all will be OK!
