Soil Or Gravel?

If you're planting and willing to deal with a mess, soil. Sand in my opinion is a bit easier to deal with though... Not TOO sure

Only reason to use soil is if you want to plant a TON of plants, and even then youll have replace it or supplement it after the nutrients are sucked out of it. I currently have a few heavily planted dirt tanks capped with sand and they are a lot of work. Sand is a much easier option.

My dirt tanks are covered with sand and aren’t messy AFTER you get the debris out initially but they are a mess before then.

Have been wondering how long my soil will retain nutrients?
