    Hi again all,

I'm planning the equipment for my 29g that I will be purchasing soon. Some of the fish I'd like to have is a group of Sterbai Cory Catfish (10) and possibly a few Khuli Loaches (5) if they are compatible. My tank will be planted and I would prefer to have a black blasting sand layer above a layer of soil as my substrate.

I know the Cory's and Loaches prefer sand to gravel, but is the lower layer of soil okay for them also?

If the sand layer is at least an inch thick they will be fine. My corries and kuhlis are both in dirted tanks with a sand cap. No messes from either party so you shouldn’t have a problem either.
