Social Saltwater Fishes?

in my 150 tank, I currently only have a tomato clownfish, ocellaris clownfish, scooter blenny, bicolor royal gramma, and a cardinal fish (banggai). i've noticed all my gramma does is hide and show up when feeding and my cardinal fish is always hiding behind the rocks until feeding time. however, my clowns and blenny are social and usually happily swim around the tank. which kinds of saltwater fishes are usually social like my clowns?

Wish I could be of help with big tanks. Alas, I am a nano keeper, but I know there are lots of fish that would fit your needs and have a great life in a 150g. Allow me to call on some of the big tank keepers here in hopes that they can better help you than I.

A tang or angel would be active and probably fit in your tank. Research both as some do get too large for even a 150.
I would only house one of each at the most as they tend to be conspecific .

By social, you mean open water swimmers. Fishes like royal gramma arn’t too known for swimming in the open waters.
Longnose hawkfish will fit your bill. These are actually pretty brave and will learn to come to you for food. These guys are also very photogenic too. They will just sit out in the open allowing you to take closeup pics without running away.

If you want something bigger, look into a yellow tang, kole tang, etc... those will swim all day around the tank. Flame angels and coral beauty will also swim in the open too and in n out of your rockwork.

With an established Tomato Clown I would definitely go with something assertive or able to defend itself. A yellow tang is assertive but may bully your smaller fish. I would actually go with a Foxface. They are generally peaceful and swim with other fish, but have venomous spines, so if another fish gets "too big for it's britches" so to speak the Foxface generally just has to flex it's spines and it's enough for the others to back off. I have a One Spot in my 90 gallon and got it as a replacement to the Yellow Tang (which turned into a complete jerk after 1 month). Angels could be a good choice, but all but the Genicanthus varieties (ie Lamarck's, Swallowtail, Bellus) are known to nip at corals. For Tangs I would say any of the Bristletooth varieties would be good (ie Kole Tang, Two Spot, TominI or Squaretail). A bit question on your 150 is it a 4 foot long 150 that is very deep or a 6 foot long tank? That makes a huge difference in stocking for fish as a 4 foot tank will greatly limit your options for Full Size Angels, Any Tangs but the ones I mentioned above). If you have a 4 foot tank stick with the One Spot Foxface, if you have a 6 foot tank then go with the Foxface Lo. I have a Coral Beauty Dwarf Angel and a One Spot Foxface in my 90 gallon (4 foot long tank), here is what they look like:

The Coral Beauty does occasionally nip at my Frogspawn and Hammer Frags but it's the once in a while exploratory nip rather than full on munching of the coral. It's a 50-50 gamble with angels and coral nipping though (except Genicanthus).
