So... I got a Glofish Betta

I know a lot of fellow fish keepers are against adopting any Glofish but this little guy was the most interactive Betta at the downtown pet store I've ever found. I was honestly really surprised at his friendliness and active personality. I caved and adopted him sense I have an extra tank being cycled for a week and 3 days. He's in quarantine just in case he isn't as healthy as I think he is. So far he is eating, interacting/flirting with me and my mother and swimming around normally. I really love this little one already.

Here is his adorableness! His name is Lightbulb.

Very pretty fish......however....Betta do not need help getting ill, whether it is genetic or just one of the many health issues that the are prone to getting, and as stunning as your little fellow is, I still wish all fish (not just Betta) were not altered like that, it just feels wrong. Betta come in such a wide range of colouring already...so to me, why mess with what is already an attractive animal?

JMO, sorry..

I've seen a few like that. lol Lightbulb is more yellow-ish which is how I saw him first. He kinda looks like a slightly translucent lemon.

I agree so much. I feel Lightbulb will be the only Glofish I'll ever adopt. Altering animals feels wrong to me too.

As far as people keeping any of any kind of glo-fish, all i gotta say is my tanks are not yours, your tanks aren't mine, and we don't all have to have the same tastes! People forget this .
