They’re both good places. But 1 is probably best for now. Cause 2 looks better for the next and bigger tank:D.
As to the circle buffing marks you did follow the directions? I think 3 is suppose to be done at right angles and 2 in circles. Lol you may be going to hard. I had the circle marks when I used a drill.
Ha I think it’s the opposite, in fact. I think my elbow grease wasn’t enough—I think it’s number one that I finished with! I didn’t buff it out hard enough I don’t think. It’s not actual marks in the glass, more like if you washed your car and didn’t buff the wax in it would show those circles of wax? And tank 2 I love it!

SamMe that’s my worry! So I wanted it where everybody who came in would see it and somewhere I personally would see it. The guest room is the darker room and we rarely have guests. The brighter room will be my office which I will likely not use often, but more than the guest room. And I prefer it there mainly bc when you walk around the house (like to the bathroom) and the office door is open, that’s the most likely space to see the tank if that makes sense. The guest room door kind of blocks somebody from seeing it in the darker room even though more people walk by it. It’s pretty shocking that my house isn’t small but I couldn’t find an open place in the main downstairs area to put a 48” tank. It’s harder to place than I thought, with spacing, lighting, outlets etc. I planned to put it near the fireplace and never allow my husband to have a fire again, but that’s when I thought the 65 I got used was 36” long—not the four feet is actually is! I wish I could show you a video layout of my first floor so you could tell me the best spot but I won’t put you through that bc nobody cares that much but me hahahaha

I understand. It definitely can be harder than people understand to find the right place, isn't it? Maybe you can just create your own little corner to enjoy a cup of coffee or just a few minutes to relax with your fish.;)

I know I’m so annoying and I’m sorry! I just did Novus three on the entire inside and was about to do the outside once more (entirely) and now am not certain which cloths are better. Which do you think? This one I just got and so are brand new and clean and they’re thicker so they are easier to use with thick stuff like Novus three.i wouldn’t think these are good but somebody commented on the reviews that they use them wet and dry on acrylic tanks and they’re great bc they don’t leave streaks.
MR.SIGA Ultra Fine Microfiber Cloths for Glass, Pack of 6, 35 x 40 cm 13.7" x 15.7" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HRD6JKK

these ones I’ve had for a while and use on my glass coffee table but I’ve only hand washed with a drop of dish soap. These def leave streaks bc there’s no absorption (not like real streaks but they don’t soak anything up).

I’m just worried bc I see circles maybe from buffing inside still but I only did Novus three today and that’s not a circular motion. Before I start again I wanted to ask! I know I sound insane hahahahah

Wow I just turned this thing on! Well I didn’t use anything special. Old white t shirts made out of cotton for both 3 and 2. Than I used a microfiber for the final cleaning and sprayed 1 on and removed with another microfiber.

Ok thank you! So microfiber likely better bc it’s not as thin. The second one is so thin like it’s exactly what you clean your glasses with. Thank you for bearing with me! The one I’m using is ultra fine microfiber but it does have lines:

I would use the thicker one. The eyeglass one is just to thin for this use.

Lol I was water changing today and thought of you. This tank is a 90g I bought new in I think 17. My problem is I used paper towels to dry the sides when water changing. They scratch! Here what my tank looks like without water.

Congrats on your new tank! I got lucky and just purchased an unused and still in the box(!!) 29 gallon SeaClear kit complete with an AC30 that was posted on Facebook Marketplace. This is my second Seaclear and so I can relate to your excitement :)

I was trying to decide what light I want to use for the new tank and found your posts. Just wanted to give you a heads up that a company called fishtanksdirect.com actually does sell lids for Seaclear aquariums. I don't have any personal experience with this company or the lids but have considered buying them myself. Good luck!

Hey! So of course I still see scratches on mine and want to use number two again but your post made me relax. Howveer quick question: my black background is so scratched. You didn’t do the blue on yours did you? It says not good for coated plastic but if you did it, I’m doing it Lolol.

Ok before you do any more fill it with water put the light on and look at it for a few days. It’s probably great as is. 3 of my tanks have the black backgroung and you don’t see any scratches.

I moved the tank back into the now finished floored room. This is where I had planned to put it but now I kind of like this diagonal look—make sure anybody who walks by HAS to see it (lol) and protects the sides from total direct sun. You can see a little Novus still on the inside corner bc I didn’t rub hard enough down there because of the existing sand from the last owner. I’m going to fill it up now and do what you suggested! Any thoughts on which position looks better?

Soooo remember the twinstar that was cheap tnat I was going to suspend (bc it was too short to put on the tank?). The suspension kit is sold out so I’m thinking of the hygger BUT with some risers off Etsy to prevent this. I act like the world is my oyster yet I have $24 in my account until Friday. Meanwhile my husband is a veritable bank (compared to me, at least) but won’t support my ‘outrageous’ spending. Lolol. So I’ll be ordering that Friday!

Edit; 86 ssinit since there IS some Novus on the wall inside how many times should I empty and refill to get it safe to proceed?
THANK YOU!!!! So Much!

I’d just wipe it off. I had no problem with the novus. After wipe off I fill the tanks. All good.

Here’s some pics of my 180 at 6pm with my hygger 957. This is not full bright and evening light
8C0F1961-3F40-4B3A-9DBD-7B7B0A53F64A.jpegthis is what they look like without risers. One light is a 36” the other a 30”. I get plenty of light on my 6’ long by 24 deep by 24 high tank.

You think I should get risers right? I have a lot of hair algae in my current tank exactly and only where the lights sits. I move it around occasionally but it always winds up in the same spot (back of tank) bc I have to lift the lid to feed. It’s a nicrew classic and I covered all the blue lights bc they gave me algae.

No I don’t think you need risers. These light are fully programable. So if you don’t want the blue just put it to zero. These really are great lights. Mine go on at 5am and go off at about 9-10pm. Next to no algae

Oh so true. I don’t have the algae in my other tank with programmable lighting. I get ambient light algae and some on decor that’s tall but not as bad. Plus I don’t have plants in those tanks so it’s quite diff. Thank You!!

Ok soooo I put the tank in the right room. Filled it up. It’s not crystal clear like my last acrylic. I googled. The “cloudy” tanks online are wayyyy worse than mine, they actually are half buffed and you can see through them so I don’t want to say mine is cloudy. I have some pics that might help show. It’s more like a residue. Like you apply car wax and it creates a little fog bc you haven’t gotten rid of it. Almost like I need to scrub the tank with soapy water if that makes sense. I reapplied Novus one inside and out and it didn’t help. Soooo should I: a.) scrub hard with a magic eraser and dawn and water to remove the residue? or b.) do Novus two again and then one with more muscle bc it’s not all the way “buffed?” I saw that people have said the residue is really just lots of small scratches but I just went and wiped my tank in one area and the residue came off. It just kind of fogs back over after. So is there anything I can clean with besides water or should I just do two and then one bc I likely didn’t buff out enough? And I read you have to remove two with a wet cloth soaked in water for an hour but I didn’t do that bc Iisten to you guys! Sheesh. I also used the glasses cleaning cloths with one this time but it didn’t make a diff. The residue comes back. Any thoughts? Thank you
EDIT: I also have api acrylic cleaner which works well I can try. Thank you all so much!

I figured it out. So I finally saw Novus says don’t use microfiber use cotton bc micro might scratch. I did Novus 2 again on a small area and used the Novus cloths (which were sketchy dirty so probably scratched Lolol) and I wiped it off and it was good. It was a film bc the microfiber cloths were too slippery and didn’t catch all the Novus if that makes sense. I also hadn’t let number 2 dry and then buff off. Didn’t get that part. But I think just using a cotton cloth with water will get the residue off. It’s just like slimy bc I didn’t grip the polish enough.

When you see a brand new acrylic that is smaller (50 gallons) but wide and doesn’t have a stand and is in West Virginia (far from Baltimore) but is a steal and you panic that you got a too deep tank Lolol.

Oh wow that’s a great question! All I can say is it’s a 64.8 gallon (48” by 13” by 24”) and I moved it and the stand by myself. Pushing. Not lifting. My husband carried it in himself. I would say based on research it’s certainly half the weight of glass but I’m not sure! I saw acrylic can even be up to 10x lighter! I would LOVE to know this answer too! It’s much lighter and sooooo clear!

That’s good to know! I am really interested in getting a 40 gallon in a few months and now I’m looking into getting an acrylic one it’ll be easier for me to maneuver
