So Excited!!! Getting new betta tomorrow!!!

Today I saw the prettiest betta that I think I have ever seen. I saw him while I was browsing around Petco while my dog was getting a bath at the grooming salon. He is a half moon butterfly with a silver body and pastel pink fins with white edges. Of course I didn't have a free tank when I saw him this morning, but I am moving things around so that I can put him in my 2.5 gallon tank.

Cross your fingers for me! Hopefully he will still be there when they open tomorrow. All of the bettas were pretty picked over, so hopefully nobody grabbed him today while I was at work. If only we could put bettas on hold......

I am so excited that I found him because I was so sad after losing four bettas to velvet last month. Rescuing a new little boy always makes it better.

I am looking for names for him, so maybe you guys could give me some ideas based on the description that I gave. Let me know if you think of anything

Sounds so pretty!!!! I hope hes there still!!!!! I know how it is when you see a betta and you know you have got to get them!!! The description reminded me of one of my bett as hes pearly pink silver, pale blue and pale purplish colored with pretty spots that I saved from Walmart. I named him Shimmer (yes very manly) LOL. I don't think he minds as long as I keep feeding him his favorite treats. hehe Heres a pic of him, the camera flash really made his colors stand out. (sorry to post a pic, I'm just so proud of my fishy children hehehe)

I'm still trying to think of a name idea for your guy!!! I hope hes there tomorrow and I wish you the best!!!!!

Awe he is so pretty Don't worry about Shimmer not being manly, I named one of my bettas Sprinkles, lol.

Thanks Lucy One of my Bettas Bijou was in my pleco tank, and he died from the same mystery disease that killed all but one of my plecos. Bubbles eventually died from a really bad case of velvet, and the other two that he shared the divided tank with followed soon after that. No more divided tanks for me. I am definetly excited to get this new boy though. Hopefully I can keep him happy and healthy

Sorry to hear about your loses.
After my worm escapade I decided to have all 3 of my Betta separated.
The new guys sound so pretty, hope he is still there.
I think you can put fish on hold if you ask. People do it here, you see on hold all the time on different tanks.

Yay!!!! I went to Petco as soon as I woke up and he was still there waiting for me I am acclimating him to the tank right now, but I took a few pictures of him in the cup to show you guys. He is already coloring up so much now that he is out of his cup. The pastel pink is turining to more of a rose color. These pics really don't do him justice though. I am soooo happy! I still need name suggestions you guys, so bring em on!

Thanks you guys!!!

Karen, I must say that you calling him "Gorgeous" means a lot! You have more beautiful boys than anyone I have ever met

He is really weak from being in his cup and has a lot of trouble swimming with the filter. I put two bloodworms in the tank for him it took forever for him to swim down to eat them. At least he is eating though. I tried turning on the lights after a couple hours and he DID NOT like that. He hid behind the filter until I turned them off. I am at work now, so I just left the light off for him today. Maybe this evening when he is a little more adjusted I'll be able to turn them on and get some better pics.

Floyd is definetly a cute name. I will keep that on my list of possibilities. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks Shell

At first I thought that he was gone because somebody moved his cup to the bottom shelf. He was floating on the top of his cup when I found him and I thought he was dead! His swimming muscles are just so weak from being in that little cup. Hopefully he will gain strength though. I am so silly....I am at work now and I keep thinking about how I can't wait to get home to check on him, lol.

Thanks Jacq! My husband actually suggested Sherbert because he looks like the rasberry sherbert that I am guilty of eating every night after dinner, lol.

Thanks! Valentino is cute too So many choices....

he is amazing!! love love his colors..cant wait to see his true form once he settles....maybe putting a sponge over the filter will help him..coming from those stagnent cups to a filtered moving water tank, is some times hard...congrats !! and I like sherbert also...bert for short LOL

Thanks Shawnie I love Bert as a nickname (so adorable)! How would I put a sponge over the filter and what kind of sponge should I use? It is an in tank power filter, not a HOB.

hmmm not sure about an in tank one...but the sponges you buy at your lfs can be cut and maybe put around where the intake is so the flow out slows down a bit...you can but them to fit all kinds of different areas

The intake on this one is similar to a HOB filter, so I probably could just wrap it around the intake. I'll check out the LFS tomorrow and see what they have. Would Petsmart have them? I have to stop by there tonight.

Thanks Lucy I hope he likes his new home too. He is the first betta I have ever gotten that has shyed away from me. Hopefully its just nerves and he will come around once he is a little more comfortable. I definetly see him being a sweet betta, not like my other brats lol.

I gotta Floyd here to...lol...not a Pink Floyd like a couple of others but a " Pretty Boy Floyd "...lol This is not to long after I got him .. he has a lot more red on his bottom fin now.

just use any filter sponge that looks like it will fit ...cut a hole into the midle of it and slide it over the intake tube...it also will help if he is one of the betta that like to get their tails caught in the filter.

Wow, Floyd is beautiful! You guys really should start a club, lol. I got a sponge for the filter yesterday, so hopefully that will help him out. Poor little guy looks so tired and sore from having to use those swimming muscles.

Okay you guys....I am officially in love He is just so adorable. Thank you all for your name suggestions. I think I have decided to name him Bashful because he is so shy. I have never had a betta that was as timid as him before. He is such a sweetie pie I am kinda obsessed, lol, but then again, what are bettas for?

I sat down and tried to get some decent pics of him now that he is in his tank. He is soooo camara shy, so the shots are not great. Some are blurry and others have reflections in them, but you will at least be able to get an idea of what he looks like out of the cup!

Thanks Pam I was seriously considering Floyd, but for some reason it just didn't seem to match his personality. I was waiting for the perfect name to come to me, and as soon as I thought of Bashful it just clicked and I knew that was his name

Hehe, don't let anyone push you around MissMTS! jk Pamd.

Thanks PFP I love him too
