Snow White ancistrus

Hello!

so today I made a purchase buy, normally I am a researcher. There was 1 sad looking Venezuelan orange Cory alone in a tank with a Snow White anc. The Cory has such damaged barbels they are almost non-existent.

the Snow White has been on my wish list for a while. Anyway, I took the pair. I couldn’t bare to leave them. Cory, now Thor, has joined my other 9 Cory doras and it munching away and playing with sand. Hopefully he’s ok.

Snow White is my concern. Has anyone who has owned one before got any tips for me? I attached a photo - how does she look to you? We have a variety of bottom dweller pellets, frozen blood worm and algae Wafers already in stock. Anything else I need? Lots of hides For her already. Anything else I need to know or do? Thank you!

She looks healthy. Algae wafers are good along with blanched veggies. My pleco loves Zucchini

She definitely looks like a blue-eyed lemon based on coloring and the fact it is a long fin (though there is a chance it isn't female depending on size and age - males normally start developing bristles at two inches body size, not including the tail length, long finned take longer than short finned to show what sex they are). She is a touch thin, but food and time will help fix that as long as her gut bacteria is good.

Mine get a mix of foods including veggies (when available), a mix of stick foods (brine, bloodworm, algae, spirulina, shrimp), carnivore pellets, plecocaine, crab cuisine, as well as sera wafers and algae wafers (minis, they break down easier).

I thought she was a touch thin to. Honestly, our new tank arrives today and I hadn’t planned to get one yet so I could set it up first. But after seeing her in a bare tank with a man who couldn’t tell me anything about her and then he dropped a rock on her and didn’t care I just said bag her up! She’s in my 60l until new tank is set up! So already in the cupboard I have tropical tabs, tetra tropical flakes, tetra tropical granules, tetra teopical crisps, Cory sinking wafers, catfish pellets, algae wafers, frozen bloodworm. I also do shelled peas once a week ( Iv made a note to add courgette/cucumber in to)

I’m doing an order today as my wood doesn’t fit the smaller tank (‍♀️) , anything food wise outside of that lot you think she can do with?
Lfs man said he didn’t know what to feed her, he didn’t even realise she was in the tank!
Here she is this morning x
Oh we have shrimp wafers and bug bites to!

Why is it called Snow White exactly ?
Worried about the color of the snow overthere hahahaha.

Not want to be rude, but to be honest I think it isn't that smart to add a Cory with clear issues to an existing healthy shoal of Corys. Fingers crossed it will get better and doesn't bring issues for the other ones.

The Cory has damaged barbs but is ok; so hopefully not anything contagious, just poor house keeping! I totally get what you are saying this.

this one is meant to be a snowwhite ancistrus but I’m not sure that it is....

Definitely the bug bites and shrimp wagers to fatten her up, I would also see if she will take to fresh veggies like zucchini, sweet bell pepper (red or orange or yellow, not green), green beans, or pumpkin. Algae waters are also a good idea.

Definitely a lemon, snow white are pale as all get out.

Just to update. She’s now fully integrated in the community tank and has filled right out. We love her x
