Snow Days!!!!!

Reading is my #1 hobby, above all else, so I make time for it. At least 2 hours per day, if not more, during the week and probably 5-6 hours per day on the weekend. I am naturally a speedreader.

Reading is a good hobby. Animals are my number one hobby mostly horses but when I'm not covered in fur I like to sit down to a good book. I would have loved to use the days off as time to read but if you have no power it's a bit hard to read in the dark.

We have oil lamps and flashlights and candles for when power goes out. Where there's a will to read, there's always a way!

Just got back from the library with 7 new books. Phew..... I can relax now.

lol, we went and bought an indoor propane heater but it did not work and then we were blocked in by downed power lines that was one cold and dark knight

About every 2 weeks, I take out about 10 books. I'm a voracious reader and cannot be without at least a couple of books, mostly novels.
That sounds... mildly familiar...

If I ever purchased all of the books that I would need to satisfy my craving for reading, I'd be on the next installment of "Hoarders" on tv..... ops:
I know that feeling! If I did that, my bookshelves would break from having books crammed in as tight as possible...

lol, ohhhh, I guess I don't comprehend how much you read
Don't worry, most people don't lol.

I pick up four hundred page novels (or multiple smaller ones) from the library... Two days later, if it was interesting, I've finished one, if not already halfway through the next... I don't know how I do it (my family doesn't either), but somehow I manage...

Hope you all are doing well ... glad you got your books LyndaB! I know that feeling (the sinking, boring apprehension of not having fresh books) too:

I agree that.. Less lately for whatever reason though...

finally, a kindred spirit.....

You know those weekends we had the big storms? I went through 2 novels per day.

I do that on stormy days too!
Btw ,does MTS in your nickname stand for MT Snails or MT Syndrome? I assume the latter, but just curious...

So, has everyone cleared their roofs? We've had over 80 roof collapses in the last few days around here. Hubby spent all day on roof with shovel and sledge hammer, banging away, you should see the ice he got off! Our roof was leaking so bad this morning, had to be done. This is the 2nd roof shoveling of the season. Crazy!

Our roof is cleared off now..... but unfortunately, not before we ended up with damage to the walls and ceiling of the master bed and bath.... already had the insurance adjuster here, now it's time to call a good contractor.

If I shoveled my roof right now, my family would have me committed. It's been clear as glass (very, very, clear glass that is) around here! So glad we aren't having the blizzard... Hope your roof stopped leaking psalm, and hopefully none of you guys' roofs collapse!

EDIT: First blizzards, now ninjas! You got me LyndaB...
Sorry to hear about the damage... Repairs suck, but I guess a roof collapse would mean a lot of water damage... And not just from the snow!

LyndaB, thank God you have insurance! Sorry to hear you'll be having work done soon.

Ahh, I missed the insurance part (somehow...). Good thing for that!

Whoohoo!! Up here in Northwest Indiana we are getting bombed with Lake effect snow! Have 2 days off and can't think of a better way of spending the day then doing maintenance and 50% water changes on all my tanks all while having a roaring fire in the fire place. I've enlisted the help of my little girls to help me out. They are all thrilled.

I want a snow day too, unfortunately it will snow in before it snows here. When I was growing up I was envious of kids living in places where they got snow days.

Occasionally we got "wind" and/or "fire" days. Both occurred on otherwise bright and sunny days often together, probably would be pretty weird to people outside of SoCal.

The worst is suppose to come tonight. We have about 10 inches of fresh snow right now.

I wish I still had snow days but, alas, I'm an adult. We have work, not school.

Having lived in NY and getting snow every single winter, I can honestly say that I don't miss it a bit.

This is what I love seeing:

Not me I'm 40 years young and I still love the snow. I love playing in it with my kids but they get cold to quick.
