I know! Check out my vid in my GA snow thread. Even my dogs get excited by snow.
I know we were the same way. Our weather is about the same as GA. When it was predicted everybody was like "Yeah right". But we got it and enjoyed it

Us, too! It's been going for about 3 hours. I'm waiting for my daughter to get home from school. I'm hoping the roads are safe for the buses.
This would've been a good day for them to close the schools early.

I'm surprised they didn't! Hope she made it home safely

Good morning. We have 6 inches of snow on the ground! Loving it.
lol Carol. I managed to get some photos during the night and I just took some this morning. I'll try to get them on line today.

My shade garden is completely ruined. It was shaded by Wax Myrtle Trees and now all of the trees are on the ground. So my 500 Hostas have no shade at all for this coming summer. Oh well....I'm enjoying the snow!

Those are some absolutely stunning photographs.

For those of you who are so excited about snow...I would be happy to share some of mine with you! I still have a snow covered street and almost bald tires.

Good morning everyone.

Well, I finally got my wish for snow! I've included a few photos below. I hope you enjoy them. It was wonderful getting to see the snow for the first time in many years. We had a lot of tree damage and my shade garden that contains over 500 Hostas is completely ruined. It was shaded by huge Wax Myrtle trees and now everyone one of them is on the ground. Our driveway is blocked with fallen trees too. I have a feeling the neighbors will be down later to help us dig out (so to speak).
Have a great weekend everyone!
Ken

Bitter sweet...very well stated Lucy. The chance for me to get to see the snow again is sooooooo worth it though! I went outside last night while the snow was coming down and found some wonderful peace of mind

Thanks all.

Well the bad thing about having snow in South Carolina, is that it doesn't stay long at all. Its melting fast and falling off the trees this morning. I project slush by tonight with maybe some isolated spots still having it. Oh well we enjoyed while it was here! More pics to come today.

Emily this is the largest snow we've had since 1989. It flurried for about 10 minutes last year and that was it.

We are near Baltimore Md. I had 60 inches in the middle of my yard after the second blizzard as hI as my chain link fence. My fish have there own house in the yard so 3 times I had to blaze a new trail to the house. I am sorry for the loss of the wax myrtles and hostas My wife has the same setup in our side yard with wax and creap myrtle.

1989?! Wow. This seems to have been a big snow year for everyone. Up in DC, they've had 50 inches. I've heard it's ridiculous. Up here we've had 8 a couple of times and that was enough to call off school for almost a whole week.

Gorgeous Pic's Ken

Just curious... six inches of snow brought your trees down?

  • #235
Hello Red.

Yes, they all fell from the little bit of snow. I lost every one of them and some of them are huge. Luckily (for us) there is a young man up the street that we've hired to do the clearing and he's starting today. He recently lost his job and needs work. He knows we'll pay him well

Wax Myrtle trees tend to lean over the years and spread out in every direction. They don't grow straight up. It was only a matter of time before they all fell over anyway. I've had to do a lot of pruning over the years.
