Snails In Natural Plants From Pet Store

I want Natural plants for my new aquarium but I am afraid of the small snails that usually hide in the plants and then take over your tank in a couple days. I had this happen to my 10 gallon tank and I still haven't been able to get rid of them so I need 1. to know a secure way (if any) of getting plants that will not cause the same infestation on my new tank and 2. How do I get rid of this snails in my 10 gallon tank. I try manually removal,(didn't work, too many) lettuce, (they don't care) I had to take all my gravel out in order to try to control this pest lol and all my plants and décor out of my 10 gallon. So right now is a very sad house for my fish until I get this under control. Somebody at the pet shop suggest algae killer products but I honestly try this too with no apparent results either. I love my plants but I can't risk this happening in my new 30 gallon tank.

PLEASE HELP

An assasin snail will take care of it for you.

I would hate to sacrifice my plants they are beautiful.... this dips will kill the plants? I have been in every pet store close to my house or work place and I haven't been able to find an assasin snail. People at the pet store look at me and have NO CLUE what I am asking for... any idea of where can I get this snail ?? I am from florida..

I say sacrifice because they aren't guaranteed to be snail/egg free and may start another infestation, even after a dip. You can try taking them and doing a dip. Dips won't kill the plant if it's a short exposure to these things. Here's a helpful guide:

My experience is if I feed the fish less, the snail production goes down.

A cucumber slice on a fork, drop it in the tank at lights out, remove in the morning and some will be on it.

I have 3 tanks with pest snails but all 3 are under control.

During water changes, anything I see above the water line gets removed.

I feed moderately.

I have a Mystery snail in each of those tanks and the mystery seems to compete with them to keep their numbers down.

I believe a pea puffer will eat them but once they are gone, then what.

You can order assasin snails online.

I think, in some ways, there are two different problems that you have:

(1) Preventing snails from entering a new aquarium: this is quite difficult unless you practice fairly stringent quarantine. I've read of aquarists at planted tank who quarantine new plants for 4 weeks and dose a copper-based medication (like Seachem Cupramine) before introducing the plant to their display tank. A duration of 4 weeks is necessary as copper doesn't affect snails until they hatch.

(2) Controlling snails in an aquarium that they've already entered: others have already posted up some good suggestions.
