Is it normal for snails to try to dig into the gravel? Mine started doing that this morning and it seems to have it self completely covered except for a piece of it's shell on the top.

It depends on the type of snail you have but with some snails that is one of the best things about them. They keep the sand or gravel stirred up so it doesn't get dead spots in it.

It's normal if it is a Malaysian Trumpet Snail.
