I picked one of them up and the shell crumbled in the smallest part of the spiral. I just got a feeding product fro “Life With Pets” and I’m starting it today. Has anyone used this and had good results with it? It consists of calcium chips, Solent green rapashy food, and calcium powder.

What is the name of the "feeding product" you got? Is it for snails?

You can use egg shells to repair the shells as they won't grow back, the only grow along the leading edge. What else are you feeding your snails and is your water soft? In my experience soft water absolutely destroys their shells. Mine did best in brackish water, with a diet of algae wafers and turtle sticks.

I also feed algae wafers. I will try turtle sticks. The water is not soft. I have hard water.

Shrimp ones are good too. I have hard water also but when I bought my snails they were in rough shape. So I got a wonder shell pack off amazon. I like them better than the cuttlebone.

Make sure you test the water for Ph, GH, and KH. If your water is acidic or too soft, no matter how much calcium they’re fed, their shells will still dissolve. PH needs to be above 7.2 at the least.

If you water is to acidic that would explain the shells regardles of food and cuttlebone. Sickness can cause this as well. I use no salt added canned cut green beans and blanch them (nuke)in microwave 30 seconds cool them and add to aquariums for snail feed qont hurt water prams ams snails will go crazy for them high in calcium too.
