Snail Problem - snail trap didn't work

From when I spotted the first snail (post), the snail problem is getting out of control quickly...I am now picking 4 - 5 tiny snails out a day, and I'm sure I am only seeing a tiny portion of them. They are small, but plentiful.

I've cut back on feeding, but probably need more drastic action.

I attempted a "snail trap" (tupperware with holes that I filled with lettuce), no luck so far.

Do assassin snails eat these type of snails?? Are they a big risk to the shrimp in the tank?

assassin snails will eat any type of snail except other assassins. so they would definitely help and no they won't bother the shrimp

 

Try the lettuce without the Tupperware, it might help the snails to find it easier.

 

I have one assassin snail in my tank that was overrun with pond snails, and the populations have gone down significantly. I used to see them all over everything and now there is just the odd one. Highly recommend for snail control

 

How big is the tank if it's a forty then you could get golden zebra loach like the on in my pic

 

Assassins would definitely help, they eat any snails except their own kind.

Thus tank is just a 29 gallon but thanks for the suggestion, I'd like a loach and may for my larger tank
