5 Gallon Tank Smaller Betta Food Suggestions?

Hello! This is my first time posting so I'm sorry if I missed some things.

I recently got a female betta for the first time (I've had males before) and she's pretty small and has a harder time eating her pellets (Aqueon Betta Food). She's about an inch long, not including her tail. I've been picking out the smaller pellets to feed her, along with some live bbs (so she doesn't get bored). I've been meaning to buy better quality betta food, so what are some good betta pellets that are on the smaller side? And how often can I feed her the brine shrimp?

 

Bug Bites betta granules are pretty small. Also can try betta flakes, as they are pretty easily ground between fingers to make much smaller.

Is the brine shrimp live or freeze dried? I'd say once a week if live and twice a week if freeze dried.
Good tiny pellet - Hikari Micro Wafers! They're TINY, so she might have an easier time eating those!

it may be hard and if you cant get bbs or bug bites(i cant get them in my area unless i order online cause they just don't carry them) you could try lightly crushing the pellets or crush some flakes(i like omega one cause they are high in protein)

 

Like above said, bug bites can be good. I've never used them but had recommendations about them. I feed my baby betta hikari micro pellets. They're super small. It's about the size of the bug bites.

 

Bug bites betta flakes. That’s all I’m saying, theyre easier to swallow and they’ll be more interested in it. Or get these, these are really good too.

 

My male betta also struggled with the aqueon pellets! Especially if they soaked for a bit longer they got huge for him. Like everyone above I recommend Fluval Bug Bites or Hikari Micro Pellets. Perfect size, nice amount of protein.

Betta Bio Gold!! These pellets are the best my betta never gets bored of them and they are just the right size.I would feed brine shrimp 2 days a week.

 

I am on the other end of the spectrum. I tried Hikari Betta Bio Gold first and, once you soak them, they are pretty big. Then I went to New Life Spectrum Small and they don't expand in water so you don't have to pre-soak them. They are the same size as Hikari before you soak them. That's the smallest that I have found. However, he just keeps spitting both out, so I am going to try flakes (Omega One Betta Buffet Flakes - like Spectrum, the first ingredients are whole fish, not fish meal [Salmon, Whole Herring, Whole Shrimp]). He gulps down the soaked Hikari freeze dried blood worms and brine shrimp, just not his food. I'm hoping the new flakes will help. Good Luck!

Soak in aquarium water any dry food before feeding. Also don’t feed anymore then their eyeball size. I do feed my folks every other day. They receive more frozen food then dry as well as jelly food,Repashi. Once a week they given a bit of a pea for digestion. With Bettas need be more careful as they’ve known eat too much if available.

 

You could try cutting the food into more bite-sized pieces with scissors. If the betta has a hard time seeing it you could offer the food with feeding tweezers, it’s a bit tedious but it’s good for keeping track of how much your betta eats and keeping the tank clean. Plus the betta I adopt are always very picky and snuff their nose at anything that isn’t the API pellets I give them.
