I couldn't find a label for some small schooling fish about 2 to 3 cm long that were thin and silver, the top of their eyes reflected blue in the light but looked silver in the shade, I couldn't get a picture, any ideas?

I'm just guessing, but on Aquatic Arts I saw fish of that general description being sold as various kinds of "Blue eyes." I don't know anything about them, but they are beautiful. The name AND the brilliant blue eyes caught my attention.

Well, my guess was clearly way off. Sorry! But good to learn something new!
