Slowly Upgrading 55 To 75 Gallon

Yeah I hope so. Although I have a few different places I could take one angelfish if need be. But they buddies so far and I’m hoping a 4’ tank is big enough for 2 Angelfish.
With all the plants you have it should work out fine

Fljoe. Ohh that’s good. Yes I am feeding them twice a day. I’m hoping once the Angels are grown so will the smaller tetras and barbs.

Dave125g. Oh awesome! He was being a good boy! I’m hoping these two both get along with each other and get along with everyone else.

Blondeath. Welcome 4]. They are good lights I think! And thank you! I am planning on eventually adding Anubis to the spiderwood

tfreema. Hehe I remember when I first planted it! Hehehe.

Gonna do a water change tonight. The bettas will get one tomorrow. My friend will receive instructions on how to feed. She has her own betta.

Fljoe. I’m so glad they are good. Got them from a friend so I know they are healthy but then you never know how they will do in a different tank.

Dave125g. And then the Ludwiga, Wisteria, and swords will grow more hopefully and that will also help. They get along fine so far. And 4’ is plenty!!

tfreema. I know!! They say cooler water. This tank is now at 79* and I do my normal 50% water change and I get TONS of Cory eggs!! It’s so weird! The temperature is warmer and I do use Thrive liquid fertilizer now. (3 pumps)

Just finished up a water change for the community tank. Jester and Merlin will get there tomorrow as well as a new Indian Almond leaf. I’ll take pictures of them when I’m done.

Thanks! So far fish seem happy. I wish I could do Pothos but I can’t. Cats.

Did water changes and put in new IAL in my betta tanks tonight. So they are taken care of.

So honeymoon in Los Angeles was awesome. Stayed in Hollywood and also visited Venice beach!!! LOVED the ocean!!!!!
So interesting development. I THINK Crowley is a boy. Still no clue on Aziraphale. But Crowley is 10 months and Aziraphale is 7 months. There’s something pointy on Crowley. Heh. The Angelfish still get along -whew- and Banana is doing good. Tried out pumpkin and he likes it. He’s also getting more bristles up the face!
The Angels still pal around but occasionally Aziraphale chases Crowley for a couple seconds then gets “oh leaf!” Dave125g. AngelTheGypsy. bizaliz3. You guys know Angels.

Check out the pointy

What gorgeous coloration on them angels. I'm jealous. Not sure what your asking about them but they appear perfectly healthy. If your asking gender. I have no clue I'll refer you to biz on that. They may be too young to tell yet. Once they start getting aggressive then you can tell. I can never tell until I see them spawning.

The pleco looks very much like a male to me. He's pretty too. Brother or nephew to stucky? Grand nephew by now maybe?

These two are beautiful! Biz says potentially male cuz the tube currently looks pointy. Crowley is getting to that age, about 10 months old. Aziraphale the paraiba is 7 months. But they do get along except for Aziraphale doing a few seconds of chasing but that one also occasionally chases the other fish. Sssooooo.
Oh yeah, Banana is definitely a boy! Got the red spot and bristles on the face. Younger brother of Stucky. At least same dad.

Starting to see a show of a breeding tube on aziraphale to, though with that shape could go either way at this point. crowley looks to be male.

My boys(?) Do the same thing never any injury nor does it last for more then a few seconds. Hopefully that continues for you. Or better yet they pair up and start spawning. You would love watching that. I so miss a breeding pair.

It takes a sharp eye to see that. Something I no longer have. I can only tell when they start spawning.

Mcasella. Oh my! Well that was unexpected! I just wanted to post a picture of Aziraphale so they didn’t feel left out of the love. I’m gonna start using “he” to describe Crowley I think.

Dave125g. Ah ok. Yeah I can deal with chasing then oh shiny. They even pal around together on and off. If they spawn I worry for my community.

Ok so green spot algae made an appearance in my community tank. I decided to make it go away after finding out what it is.
Got a mag float with a razor attachment. Used that on the tank tonight, looks MUCH better!! Also got plant! Crypt SrI Lanka. Had to get rid of the ship decoration though. Worth it.

I got my pink flamingo from Keith at KJE Aquatics. He is a friend from another forum. It has not stayed pink since I don’t do CO2 and some of them melted back. Need a really good light for them too. I am hoping the ones still going strong will give me pink colors again as I figure out how to get more light to them.

Basil. I guessed correctly the plant was a crypt at least when I saw it! Hehe. Oh last night there was one at my LFS!! Going back today!

tfreema. Oh I’d be getting it from my LFS today if possible. I have a good plant light. I heard they go kinda oliveish without CO2? But someone on a Facebook group said his has stayed pink without CO2. Thanks for the link! I’ll go to my Facebook and then look them up that way

Thanks guys! I might try some. My crypt wendtI red has stayed fairly red in 2 tanks without CO2. So who knows.
I’m also thinking about trying CO2 in one of my 40 g.

I MAY eventually attempt CO2. Right now it scares me. Even though tons of people use it safely. My red Rubin sword and my Ludwiga Repens red are doing good in the 55. And my crypt wendtiI bronze is great in my betta tank.

I just planted ludwegia repens in my new 40 so it’s too early to say if it’s going to stay red. But that’s the tank I would try with CO2. It scares me also but I have someone willing to help me.
Still, I’ve been searching for a “CO2 for dummies” tutorial but haven’t found one in print yet. Guess I’ll check YouTube next.

Congratulations on the honeymoon and on Surviving So Cal.

It's a bonus when you come home and you find that all your fish are not dead.

I'd like to get rid of some of my aquarium ornaments but the problem is I've got children and grandchildren buying these things as presents.

I've been trying for a more natural look in all of my tanks.

Good luck with the angelfish. The ones that I had tended to fight a lot. Eventually we went on vacation and they got over fed by our housesitter.

RIP anglefish.

Basil. Ohhh!! Mine have a rusty color to them within the green. I can ask my LFS people if they’d be willing to help me out.

Ulu. Thanks! Been married 4 years now and we loved Los Angeles, though I admit my favorite was Venice beach!
My friend has a betta, but not a community tank so she just needed to be told their routine.
Ah well, that’s different if it’s presents. Mine were bought on my own. I just exchanged them eventually for plants. Hehe.
So far Angelfish doing good. They get along fine so far. I’ve also threatened that the only reason they are in this tank is because of the pleco.

Guys!! I got the crypt flamingo!!! I know I’m crazy for doing this but I thought about it all night. Hopefully it does good. Why am I seriously considering CO2 for the 75??? I haven't the foggiest how to do set up even with looking online.

The whole tank right now

I have not gone swimming in the ocean for many many years, because my eyesight was so poor that without my glasses I could never find the shore, and once I did find the shore I couldn't find my wife.

I may try it again some day now that my eyes have been repaired. They didn't guarantee the repairs to be salt water proof though ...

I’ve gone under and swam in the Atlantic Ocean before in the summer years ago, but I had to at least get in the Pacific even if it was a bit chilly. That way I could say I’ve been in both oceans! Sea to shining sea! Heheheh.

You know how it is. A plant that grows well in one person's tank may not grow at all in someone else's. There's too many factors at play. That's too bad I know you liked them.

At least you can grow crypts. They won't grow in my 125.

It’s weird because they did SOO good for a couple years. They tried to take over my tank! I was giving them away to my friends by the handfuls! But I do have good plants in here.
I can do easy crypts. I’m hoping the SrI Lanka’s and the flamingo does good. I’ve been baby talking them.

Ok I did post in the plant section. But I had not good algae. Not good cuz no one wants to eat it. So anyone have ideas how to get rid of it?

Are you folks getting pummeled with Mid-West Winter?

Not so here. We are still having Indian Summer.

My plecos are getting big and fat on all the algae of an outdoor tank. They are getting a bit more insulation today, as our temps go from 50F to hi-70's and warmer (but will hit 32F once or twice.)

I imagine an outdoor tank in mid Ohio could be difficult to heat about now. . . .

Oh winter hasn’t started yet! We’ve had cold weather and a wee bit of snow but no winter. Temperatures about 40* high to 20* low.
