Slime on driftwood?

Blueberrybetta

I got a piece of MopanI driftwood. Boiled it for 5 days to save & collect tannin. It's been in my tank for about 1 week now.

I read that if you don't boil it at all first , then its prone to grow fungus later

Is the slime okay for my betta if he tries to eat it?? Its just at the one spot .

Will the whole piece be covered ? Is it normal and will it go away or get worse?

Thanks

Its normal on new driftwood. It may spread before it gets better, but it'll vanish after a time. Some fish/snails/shrimp like to eat it, and its no harm. Just unsightly.
