slate for branches

I have natural slate tile that is not sealed. I ordered manzanita branches from save on crafts. I want to make them look like trees. can I use that slate tile to mount the branches? I want to cut it into smaller pieces and either use stainless screws or super glue. not sure yet. of course after it is cured. in time when I get brave enough, finnex fugeray and maybe java moss to complete the trees. but for now I need structure. tile is 12''x12''x 3/8'' approx.

Sounds good to me. I use chunks of slate myself but slate tile is probably OK too. You'll need a drill and a masonry bit just a hair bigger than the screws you're going to use. I recommend stainless steel screws. It also help to have a container of water on hand to wash away the dust and cool the bit while drilling. It will help your bit to last longer

I was questionable on the stainless screws. I know stainless isn't supposed to rust, but sometimes our expensive stake knives or silverware tells another story.

Probably lower grade than you expected. "Real" stainless should be safe. You'll pay for it though
