    Do I need to prep my hose in anyway before siphoning for a water change?

    Do you mean like a garden hose? If so, I'd use a "fish only" hose (a hose that you dedicate only to the use of fish stuff). Otherwise, I'd run some hot water through it before the first use. :)

    If it is brand new, I'd rinse it off really good.

    I work at a yacht club so I borrowed an unused fresh water drinking hose solely for this purpose.

    I agree, your fish hoses should be for the fish only.

    I actually have specific hoses for draining and refilling.

    Make sure you get as much water as you can out of the hose before putting it away.
