single male jack Dempsey minimum tank size

    just need 2 know the minimum tank size and what filtration 2 get

    If he is on his own then a 55g should suffice. As always, bigger the better.

    I would get a canister filter and a HOB to filter that tank. Aquatop filters on eBay run about $50 and are great filters.

    I like the 40b as a minimum for a single male jd long term.

    Yeah. A 75g could hold two JDs and some tankmates.

    you could do firemouths, convicts, if its a 75 you might be able to get away with an oscar. lots of caves for cichlids, they like to stake out territories.

    Agreed, other smaller cichlids would do well. I was thinking more along the lines of Congo Tetras, Giant Danios, large Rainbowfish.

    I'm just thinking of a full grown jds aggressivness i guess. the other cichlids will fight back if they get picked on. the tetras, danios and rainbows would just be picked on imo. depends on the jds temperment though.

    I dunno. I've kept all the above fish with JDs without issues. I think Cichlidnut has all of them except Congo Tetras currently. Congos are African Tetras so they are a tad more aggressive than most others. Plus they're bigger.

    well I was just going to set up a 20 gallon long with a fire mouth maybe I'm put a fire mouths with the jacks
