Single Black Neon Tetra Isolating Itself?

HI I am new to the thread so I have no idea how this forum works, anyways I have a concern regarding my community tank. I have about 5 black neon tetras and one of them has been acting funny he has been in a corner of the tank while the other 4 swim around. I feel like he is sick but I cannot find any signs on his body and his color looks fine. He kinda hovers alone there and will swim sometimes.
The water parameters are fine, I was only able to test ammonia which was near 0 since I did a water change 2 days ago. The nitrates and nitrogen levels should be low or acceptable due to it being planted somewhat heavily.

The tank is a 60 gallon, has filter and temp is at a good 72 f
13 platies
2 balloon mollies
1 dwarf gourami
1 mystery snail
5 black neons tetra
5 neon tetra
5 ember tetra
5 skirt tetra

It is probably the runt of the group. They need to be kept in groups of at least 6. Minimum. I like odd numbers. Add 4 more and let's see what happens. I am only speaking with regards to the black neons.

If it is the smaller , weaker of the group maybe its being harassed by the others.I also tend to disagree that they need to be kept in groups.I kept a single black neon for 3 years in a tank with various other tetras, barbs and mollies and it was just as happy as the other tankmates..

Look them up on a good site like seriously fish. They are schoaling/schooling social fish that thrive in groups of 6 or more. The more the better.

They might be a schooling fish but i'm saying is a single fish can and has lived quite happy for me for 3 years...I will agree that keeping a grioup of 5 or 6 would be better tho. I been keeping aquariums for right around 50 yrs. I have kept many different fish and keep both freshwater and saltwater.I have found over all those years that the info documented and given on aquarium fish are usually very good guide lines but are not positively the way it is..There almost always is an exception. Please don't think I am coming off as a smart ___.I am just stating what I have experienced in my aquarium and fish keeping.

Yes, but the general agreement among most fishkeepers are that tetras are a shoaling fish, and therefore are recommended for them. Even in the wild, there are hundreds and hundreds of tetras swimming among themselves, and in order to give our fish the best life and thrive in a captive environment, we try to replicate that. We don't know if they're "happy" or not, but we do know that they are certainly more comfortable in that lifestyle. OP has space for more tetras, so it's worth adding some more in order to see if the black neon's behavior will change.

Definitely not saying it will kill them. It will help them thrive to be in larger groups. Sure....a fish can live but I find it more fun to watch 8 school up when an angel passes overhead. Do whatever you want, but not to sound like a smart---
They live happier in groups. Period.

Please find me anything. Literally anything..... resource, forum......anything other than your opinion and I will eat my words. Find me something that recommends keeping a black neon alone. Even a resource that does not CONDEMN it.

They are more schoalers not schoolers without a larger predatory fish in the tank....like an Angel for example. Bottom line. Do you want your fish to live or thrive?
