Hello,
On my 75 gal aquarium I've had 2 silver dollars about one is about 5 and other is 6 inches ive had them for over 6 months now they are extremely shy they hide behind decorations all day when feeding they only eat after I leave the room. well about 2 weeks ago my local shop finally had silver dollars about a quarter size I notice those silver dollars weren't shy and I decided to buy 3 it's been about a week now since I added them to my community and well my 3 quarter size aren't shy when feeding but the rest of the time they school together hiding I'm just wondering did I do something wrong? is it is it because they aren't the same size the 2 larger don't feel safe? I do not have any aggressive fish in my community my silver dollars are my biggest fish the 2nd biggest are my 2 pearl gourami and they are peaceful

it doesn't seem like you have a while lot of cover in your tank. Maybe they feel insecure because of it. Maybe add some more cover. I have a 3-4" pair in my 112g. They are always out and about. I have a lot of places for them to hide/stay out of sight because my green terror likes to chase them haha

I'll try adding more fake plants. I'm moving my tank from my room to the living room and its a high traffic area at the end of may. I been fighting a mold problem all winter from water evaporating. I was hoping having a school would help but it didn't work

Even a peaceful community the fish may not feel secure so they hide away, giving them more hiring places makes them more willing to be out and about.

I was considering Silvers and still might. During my research. for best results they require low noise, traffic and medium to low light they startle easily. Can be kept in a Community but best to have species only tank of at least 6+.
