So I am housing 2 convicts and 2 fire mouths and i got 5 silver dollars in a 29G and want to know if i can transfer them to the 55G without problems the cichlids are about 2 1/2 inches not so big.

    You can.
Though, in the future, upgrade to a 75g. That's their bare minimum, imo.

Water changes are determined by the fish, not the filtration. You could have one filter or ten, you'll get the same amount of nitrates... More filters mean the ammonia will disappear more quickly, but it won't affect water changes.

Depends how much nitrates your tank is producing. And I agree with anders a 75g is good but IMO for silver dollars a 125g is better tank for them there active fish that would appreciate the extra swimming room.

So your keeping the silver dollars with and Oscar in a 75g tank? I'm confused how many tanks do you have. I can't tell you how much to do if idk how fast your nitrates are rising.

And Oscar in a 55g tank is too small for once it grows up which is going to be fast. They should really be in huge tanks if you can't upgrade I would recommend rehoming him.
