They're actually my favourite fish.
Irs a fish from the gar family. Lol..What is a spotted gar?
Yea. I'll get more time.Yea I remember that just wasn't sure what you had planned to do with this one.
So if you split the tank in the middle should give you three four months to re-home the gar
But right now they are in a 75 gallon and by that time(old threada) the ailver aro was larger than the gar but in this case the gar is 4-5 inches longer than the aro. So should I remove the dividr?HI sway, nice to see you back at Fishlore.
We've been through a lot of this with you in the past. In fact, exactly a year ago (26th Dec 2014). Back then, you had a 7" arowana with a gar fish.
Some of your older threads:
<- this is the one with the gar
I hope this time, things go better for your fish.
Should I keep the l8ghts on for 24 hours or should I turn them off during night(10 pm to 8 am)?

Yeah but that wan an alligator gar and mine is a spotted/florida gar(not so aggressive).Isn't that what killed the DYI Kings other arowana. I would look up the video on YouTube but I think I remember him talking about the gar killing the arowana.
Hey guys I am pretty confused. Should I remove the divider of my 75 gal tank. There is silver arowana 8-9 inches and the florida gar(maybe spotted). I did some research and many people said 'try it' the combination might work. But after removing the divider the gar immediately followed the aro. I was afraid that it would bite the aro so I knocked the glass a little then he went off. Many have these combination and it worked and I have seen this combination on youtube. So was it going to bite the aro? Ofcourse he is too big for the gar to eat. Should I completely remove the divider? Or what?Thank u. Sorry posted in the wrong section.
But after keep the gar, now I like it too so do not want to give away or sell the gar. I do not have an extra tank to keep him. Is he going to attack the aro?I would rehome the gar now. It's not worth injuring your arowana, is it? And the aro probably needs the full tank to swim and grow properly.

Ok. But about the combination in youtube videos? How they stay peacefully? The gar is going to get way too big for your 75 gal tank (and your 280). Either you get rid of him, or he'll live a short life and die prematurely from stunting. Not to mention he may attack your aro when he starts feeling cramped.

Ok I am gonna remove him.The gar should not be in your tank. Get rid of him, and you won't have to worry about him and your aro getting along. You should be more concerned about stunting him.
No progress on rehoming? I think you're going to continue to have problems like this until you rehome the gar.Hey guys yesterday when I was feeding gar, the aro banged really hard aginst the divider. And after that when the light and other things are on he is not swimming much and staying on the bottom. He is still eating but he is not active as before. When he lays on the botton his tail and back moves up. When the light and other things are off, he swims normally at the top of the tank. Should I be concerned about this?
No. Once I had found an owner but he had 38 gallon tank, so I could not give it to him. If I do not get any owner for another2 weeks. I am just gonna sell it to my LFS.No progress on rehoming? I think you're going to continue to have problems like this until you rehome the gar.
I don't think there's much you can do besides frequent water changes. Maybe keep the light off for one day.
