Hey guys i've finally got the aro. But unfortunatell it has to go with a 12 in spotted gar that was rescued. The aro is 6''. Will they live together peacefully? Thank you

From what little research I just did I don't think it will but it might cause your silver Arowana is smaller than it so it might think it's dinner but don't quote me on that I might be wrong

Also just bing it or google it and read up on it

I think a 6 inch fish will be too large for a 12 inch gar to eat.

I did some research but could not find much useful information. Anyone who has both in a same tank?

Here the gar is smaller than the aro. As silvers are the least aggressive they don't even defend themselves(according to my knowledge) I think the gar might attack the gar..

1 Spotted Gar, 2 Silver Arowanas, 2 Bichirs

With the last one on the list above they stay at 1 foot and you watch the video and there is two of them swimming around with the silver arowana and the spotted gar

Yea you most certinly could for a short time till the arowana gets some size to him. Do you plan on keeping both fish?

No. I'm gonna sell the gar as soon as I find an appropriate owner. As I said previously I'll move the aro to a 225

Yea I remember that just wasn't sure what you had planned to do with this one.

So if you split the tank in the middle should give you three four months to re-home the gar

HI sway, nice to see you back at Fishlore.

We've been through a lot of this with you in the past. In fact, exactly a year ago (26th Dec 2014). Back then, you had a 7" arowana with a gar fish.

But right now they are in a 75 gallon and by that time(old threada) the ailver aro was larger than the gar but in this case the gar is 4-5 inches longer than the aro. So should I remove the dividr?

???

Should I keep the l8ghts on for 24 hours or should I turn them off during night(10 pm to 8 am)?

Is this the same Arowana? If it was 7" a year ago it should be about 2 foot long now. If it's the same one its severely stunted.

No its a diffrent one that I jst got last week. Its feeding on shrimps right now.

One arowana that is in my 280 gallon is 27 inches(thread-tank mates for silver arowana), the aro in (feeding silver arowana, arowana turning black, arowana broken barbels) died. The fish in this thread is a new one..

Should I remove the divider?

Thanx

Silver arowana and gar in a 75 gallon

Hey guys I am pretty confused. Should I remove the divider of my 75 gal tank. There is silver arowana 8-9 inches and the florida gar(maybe spotted). I did some research and many people said 'try it' the combination might work. But after removing the divider the gar immediately followed the aro. I was afraid that it would bite the aro so I knocked the glass a little then he went off. Many have these combination and it worked and I have seen this combination on youtube. So was it going to bite the aro? Ofcourse he is too big for the gar to eat. Should I completely remove the divider? Or what?Thank u. Sorry posted in the wrong section.

Isn't that what killed the DYI Kings other arowana. I would look up the video on YouTube but I think I remember him talking about the gar killing the arowana.

I would rehome the gar now. It's not worth injuring your arowana, is it? And the aro probably needs the full tank to swim and grow properly.

But after keep the gar, now I like it too so do not want to give away or sell the gar. I do not have an extra tank to keep him. Is he going to attack the aro?

The gar is going to get way too big for your 75 gal tank (and your 280). Either you get rid of him, or he'll live a short life and die prematurely from stunting. Not to mention he may attack your aro when he starts feeling cramped.

The gar should not be in your tank. Get rid of him, and you won't have to worry about him and your aro getting along. You should be more concerned about stunting him.

Hey guys yesterday when I was feeding gar, the aro banged really hard aginst the divider. And after that when the light and other things are on he is not swimming much and staying on the bottom. He is still eating but he is not active as before. When he lays on the botton his tail and back moves up. When the light and other things are off, he swims normally at the top of the tank. Should I be concerned about this?

No progress on rehoming? I think you're going to continue to have problems like this until you rehome the gar.

I don't think there's much you can do besides frequent water changes. Maybe keep the light off for one day.

No. Once I had found an owner but he had 38 gallon tank, so I could not give it to him. If I do not get any owner for another2 weeks. I am just gonna sell it to my LFS.

Sell it now longer you wait bigger it gets. The arro needs space to roam it probably feels cramped. No need and bothering with waiting for somone to buy a fish like this.
