Sigh... Poor LFS employee

Just thought I'd share since so many LFS employees are not knowledgable or "trustworthy" (just want to sell more product)...

I was in looking to buy more neons the other day and was waiting to be helped, and couldn't help but overhear 2 women talking to the girl that worked at the store. Woman 1 was looking to buy a tank for her daughter and it was her birthday that day. She wanted to just buy the tank and everything and bring the fish with her too. The employee tried to tell her "no you need to let the tank cycle, the shock will most likely kill your fish". Woman 2 chimes in saying "no it's ok, you can just put them in a bowl until the tank is set up". . Poor employee!

So she keeps trying to tell Woman 1 that that is not a good idea, the fish will most likely just die. Woman 2 keeps repeating that they will be fine, they just need to go in a bowl. I was shaking my head in the background. The employee finally got so defeated that she directed Woman 1 to the feeder guppies, telling her she could try 2 of those.

Felt bad for the employee, she was trying to give good advice, but Woman 2 would not pipe down!!!

Good morning,

Sad, but some people just won't listen.

Or is that Woman 2 was the 'expert friend', and knows more than any shop employee, especially a young shop employee.

I remember my days on the sales floor (selling IT products), and the 'experts' would always come in and 'know more than me'..... you feel like saying to them:
"You obviously know more than me, why did you ask me for me advice? Just let me know what you want to buy"
"Then, don't come back and allow me to say 'I told you so', cos I don't wanna deal with your self-created problems"

Customers can be their own worst enemy..

Sad thing is, they probably broke a LFS employee who actually knew something about the hobby. If she gets enough of those types of customers she will eventually break down and not offer advice anymore.
