Sick Endler

My endler seems sick, and is always on the surface gasping for breath and shaky swimming.

Also there is a circular coloration towards the back of the body.

Any idea what it has? Is it contagious? I just moved it to a temporary tank.

    What are your water parameters?
How often do you perform water changes?
What tankmates does the entire have?
How long have you had this guy?

Also, the coloration is nothing to worry about. Your talking about the grey/brown spot above her gravid spot? It looks like natural coloration to me, unless it is raised from the body (which I can't tell in the pictures)

Water is almost cycled. As it is still cycling, frequent water changes. Only Endler and mystery snails. Had him since I setup the tank, around 2 months.

The spot was not there before and is raised. Now it is sitting still and the bottom of the tank. Something is definitely off.

Bumping thread. She is still alive, but the mark has become darker and on both sides of her back.

    Could she be pregnant?

If she is swimming with a jerky movement (flashing) I would have to agree something is wrong. Is the raised patch fuzzy?

Maybe, but the patch is not at the gravid spot.

Maybe, it has become darker, like a gravid spot on her back. She is eating.

She is still alive. The spot is still there. I have been adding a bit of salt.

I think I jinxed it! Did a water change, maybe left some chlorine in there. She is dead.
