Sick Discus - Hexamita?

I moved a few weeks ago, which meant I had to take down my discus aquarium and set it back up. I wasn't able to cycle a tank in the new place before moving the old one, so I used the same filter media and gravel when setting up the new tank.

A few days after moving, I noticed one of my discus not eating and hiding in the corner behind some driftwood. About two days later, he started seeming okay again and was eating. This weekend, things have changed. He's not eating, is hiding, and I noticed white/clear stringy poop coming out of him. He doesn't have any noticeable holes, fungus, etc. on him. What's weird is he'll act hungry, swim with the other discus, and come up to food like he's about to eat it, but doesn't.

I think he has hexamita, but not sure. I've read the main options are:
  1. Metroplex- preferably a bath, but could mix with food for it to be ingested
  2. API General Cure
  3. De-wormer (Flubendazole)- saw online as Kusuri Wormer Plus
What is my best bet? I have plants, so I don't think Metroplex is an option. He's also not eating, so other than helping the other fish (if they're potentially sick as well) I don't think mixing it in food would work. General Cure and Flubendazole seem to be plant-safe, but have only seen them listed in a few forums and articles online as potential solves. I don't have a quarantine tank up since I just moved, and haven't had a fish sick for a long time. I could set one up but would worry about it having to cycle and just making it worse.

Tank Stats:

- 40 gallon tank
- pH 6.8
- Temp 84F
- Ammonia 0.0, Nitrite 0.0, Nitrate .10
- Feeding: Discus mix from Hikari, Frozen bloodworms from Hikari, beefheart flakes

If it is a case of hex I would go with metro or Flubendazole

Hello, I feel your fishes issue maybe stress vs any disease and exposing your tank and other fish to unnecessary antibiotics can just cause your other fish to be stressed. I would focus more in maintaining good water quality and continue to monitor for any changes. If in fact it is Hexamita, it’s best treated with meds that are consumed and ingested vs absorbed.

Okay thank you nikm128 and Rivieraneo. I will keep doing water changes and continue watching him.

Well it does sound like stress but the stringy white poo is usually the sign of sickness. But it could also be there’s just nothing in it to come out. Keep an eye on it raise the temp to 86-88. Warmer water does get them eating. Feed less of the frozen bloodworms. Just use as a treat once a week. Set up your qt tank in case you need it. How many discus in the tank?
