I’ve been treating my betta for columnaris for over a month now and he is FINALLY getting better. I’ve been giving him furan-2 and 50% water changes daily. The tumor on his head has gone down, the wound on his side has healed, and I’m seeing the tiniest bit of fin healing progress. He’s still not 100% the beautiful fish he used to be, but when do I return him to his original tank? I currently have 2 ADFs in it.

I’ve read to continue the medication treatment until it’s over, but I’ve been treating him for weeks now.

My question is, when is it really “over”? Does he really have to be 100% perfectly healthy with totally healed fins before he can go back home?

(To be honest, I’m sick of the daily water changes.)

Theres a few trains of thought on this. One is a week after you notice marked improvement. Another is after a month of treatment. The other is once the fish is 100%. Now with the frogs you have to be a little more careful since most treatments can't continue with them in the tank. So its more of a judgement call.
