Sick Albino Cory?

Hey guys,

One of my Corys has been acting weird since last night, just wants to sit in the corner and not move (even if other Corys barrel over it), isn’t interested in food and only occasionally darts to the top for air then straight back to its spot. None of the other Corys are acting weird and all my water parameters are fine (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate, PH 7.5). Did a 50% water change yesterday morning. I also noticed lately that the other 2 are getting much larger than him and he’s a lot more pale than them

Any ideas?
Thanks, Stephanie

note: I am very new to this hobby and these are my first ever fish so any help would be great

What size tank is it? Cories do best in a group of that least five. I would add more of them if your tank is large enough. Is he being picked on by the other cories? If your parameters are good and your tank is big enough I would only do a 30 percent water change weekly. Males are usually smaller than female. If his stomach is a little caved in he might have internal parasites.

hi, it’s a 15 gallon with 3 albino and 3 JuliI which is the max I can have because it’s a bow front not a long 15. Ok thanks, his stomach looks pretty flat compared to the other 2 albinos which have little rounded bellies 24/7! I am wondering whether to sell the JuliI and get 2 more albinos but they’ve all played together etc since I got them with no issues. Up until last night all 3 albinos have been super active so I’m quite surprised it’s suddenly gone like this...

I also have a male Betta in the tank but he isn’t slightly interested in the Corys and happily lies next to them on the sand so I don’t think he’s the problem.

They usually say five cories of the same species together so they feel more secure. Bronze cories are basically the same species as the albinos so they would work also.
